14-and-Under (Girls Born in 1990)
The Maryland Hurricanes Girls 14-and-under Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National team is part of a nonprofit organization based in Baltimore, Maryland. The club provides a top quality environment for aspiring young female athletes to enhance their basketball skills beyond that which they might achieve participating in recreational leagues. It is a pre-stage for high school and collegiate levels of competition. The Hurricanes basketball program emphasizes promoting quality teams and fostering the concept of teamwork. Last year, the Maryland Hurricanes basketball program competed on the national level circuit of competition, and achieved remarkable results. This year, the two time defending Maryland State Champions hope to 3-Peat their state championship victory and travel to Roanoke, VA in July 2005 to participate in the 2005 Girls 14-and-under AAU National Championship against the nation’s elite competition. The team consists of players from Baltimore City/County, Howard, Harford, and Anne Arundel counties Like other nonprofit organizations, the Maryland Hurricanes girls basketball program needs financial resources to help achieve its goals. Our basketball team typically has two primary means of financial support: 1) player’s registration fees and 2) fund-raising by the players and parents. Fees and fundraising funds barely cover the cost for the essentials such as tournament registrations, insurance and team equipment. Fund-raising helps, but it is vital that the players focus their time and efforts on schoolwork, athletics and other endeavors at this critical juncture in their lives. In order to support their churches, schools and other organizations, it seems the players and families are fund-raising year-round. It is the contribution provided by local businesses and individuals such as you that allows our team to provide the children with a truly high quality experience. Your contribution is critical to the success of our youth athletic programs, communities, and State of MD.
